Our first Oil Platform Esther outing. Rumor has it that the Seal Beach Rough Water Swim used to go out and around the oil platform. According to Oscar's historical research, the platform used to be an oil island like those inside the Long Beach breakwater, until it was washed away by a winter storm in 1983. Using Google Earth we estimated the round-trip distance at approximately three miles.
